Simple Coastal Decor Swaps to Bring Summer Indoors

I have been writing a lot this week about my love of summer. There’s nothing like a little refresh at home to match that light, breezy summer feeling. You don’t have to live by the ocean (or do a full makeover) to bring a bit of that coastal, summery vibe inside. Here are three simple swaps I love for an easy summer update.
1. Trade Heavy Textiles for Light, Breezy Fabrics
Swap out thick throws and dark cushions for lightweight fabrics like linen and cotton. Light blues, sandy neutrals, and crisp whites instantly lift a space and make it feel cooler and more relaxed. Even just changing pillow covers or adding a linen table runner can bring that breezy feeling home.
2. Add Natural Elements
Bringing in natural textures like rattan, driftwood, and seagrass adds warmth without heaviness. A woven tray on the coffee table or a rattan basket for extra blankets are easy updates. Even something simple like a vase of dried grasses can pull the coastal look together.
3. Bring in Fresh Greenery (Or Faux if You Prefer)
Coastal homes are all about that fresh, airy vibe, and greenery is a big part of it. A large palm, some ferns, or a vase filled with eucalyptus branches can add life and color. If you're not into plant maintenance, faux options work too! Tuck them into woven baskets or light pots for a natural, coastal finish.

Final Thoughts
Summer decor doesn’t have to mean a total overhaul — just a few thoughtful swaps can refresh your space and make it feel light, relaxed, and ready for the season. I love how a few natural textures and a bit of greenery instantly brighten things up.
