Summer Home Project Plans: Playroom Renovation

I have big plans for this summer—and not just for sunny days at the beach or slow mornings with the kids (although there will be plenty of that too!). I’m also hoping to make some real progress on one of the most multi-functional spaces in our home: the playroom.
Back in the fall, we installed a set of reclaimed cabinets in the playroom—such a win for both storage and sustainability. But like so many home projects, it’s only partially finished. The cabinets still need painting, and the ceiling could really use a refresh. There are a few holes to fill and some discolored patches that need attention. Nothing major, but enough to make the space feel incomplete.
There’s also a built-in desk included in the cabinetry, and I have a vision for turning that little nook into something really special. I’d love to add shelving above it and maybe even a chalkboard wall nearby. Eventually, I see it becoming a homework and craft station for the girls—but for now, I dream of it being my cozy little blogging alcove. A quiet corner just for me to be creative while they play.

Will I get it all done this summer? I’m not totally sure. But honestly, I’ll be happy just to make a solid start. I’m giving myself permission to move at a pace that works for our family and our summer rhythm.
I’ll be sharing updates here as things come together—starting with the planning process this month. It feels good to put it out into the world and make it official.
So tell me—what home projects are you dreaming about right now? I’d love to hear what you’re working on or hoping to start this season!
