Hello, 

I’m Sheri, new to blogging but not as new to home improvements. Thank you for checking out my DIY Home blog. I live in Surrey, BC Canada with my husband and two daughters. We entered the wild ride of the BC housing market in 2017 when we purchased our first home- a townhouse. This was before we had kids, and we took on a “fixer upper”. Over the 5 years we were there we updated it from top to bottom and learned from our mistakes along the way. In 2022, after having our second daughter we realized we had grown out of our townhouse and decided to sell and look for a home with a more functional layout. We swore we would buy a “turn key” townhouse, but an older detached home came up somewhat within our price range and we jumped on it. The day we got the keys, we walked in and felt super overwhelmed by the amount of work there was to be done. We were literally ripping up carpets and painting walls while moving in our furniture. We had a couple moments of looking at each other and feeling like we made a huge mistake, but little by little we’ve made improvements and our “fixer upper” house now feels like home. 

Here I will be posting my projects, tips and tricks, mistakes, and musings. I am by no means an expert on anything but I've learned a lot along the way. Also, I’m fortunate to have a handy husband and a wood-working Dad who are teaching me and involved in major projects.
