Planning a bedroom makeover: Girls' bedroom paint ideas
We still have some finishing work to do in our bedroom (isn’t that always the way?), but lately, I’ve found my thoughts drifting toward another space—my daughters’ bedroom.
Their room is the only one in the house I haven’t painted since we moved in. The original gray-blue is still on the walls and while it's a perfectly fine color it doesn't reflect my girls' personalities or tastes.
Last fall, we removed the oversized window valance, and I patched up the drywall... and then life happened: christmas, family trips, work etc. That's always how it goes isn't it?
They already have a lot of lovely elements in the room—a beautiful handmade bunk bed built by my dad, a cute light pink rug, and furniture that works really well in the space. Now it’s time to bring it all together with the right color.

If my girls had full creative control, I’d be painting rainbows on every wall. And while I love their imagination (and honestly, rainbow walls could be adorable), I’m aiming for something they’ll still love a few years from now when rainbows are long forgotten. After some back-and-forth, we've landed on a choice between two timeless favorites: pink or purple.
Coming soon, I’m hoping to carve out time for a mini makeover session. I’m planning to let the girls help with the first coat—nothing like little hands and big paintbrushes to make a memory (and maybe a mess).I'll be sure to put down a lot of drop cloths.
I’ve started a mood board on Pinterest to gather some inspiration, and I’m leaning toward soft, dusty shades that feel playful without being too bold.
Here’s a peek at some of my current inspiration and a snapshot of the bunk bed that’s inspiring the whole space:
I’ll be sure to share progress updates as we go, but for now, that’s what’s swirling around in my mind this morning—along with my coffee, of course.
